Update, Monday, February 2, 2009: In light of the new President and his promise to withdraw from Iraq, I have changed the ticker. It now extrapolates the number of deaths since January 1, 2000. Thanks to Lee for the new graphic.
Update, Wednesday October 10th, 2007: I am no longer able to support the abortion ticker on my server. I am very sorry. I have been absolutely thrilled with the popularity of the abortion ticker, and I am very thankful to everyone who helped to spread the word about the travesty of legal abortion. However the drain on my bandwidth is dragging down the entire server, and I have no choice but to discontinue. At the end of this post is information on other people who have installed copies of the ticker which you can use.
If you have your own site/server with access to both PHP and GD, and you would like to host a copy of the ticker, you can download the script here. I hope many people install this script so that it can continue to spread across the 'net without being a large drain on any one person's resources. (Installing the script does not obligate you to share with others; if you can only afford to use the ticker yourself, you are welcome to do that.)
If you download and install the ticker onto your server, and you would like to let others hotlink to the ticker from your site, let me know and I will add your link here. There is no need to email me to let me know that you added the ticker to your site unless you are hosting the ticker and making it available for others to use.
Below, find all of the original information about the ticker. (Note that you can NOT link to the ticker from my site any longer.)
I've heard a lot about how many people (read: terrorists and enemy combatants) Bush&Co. have killed by protecting Americans from terrorism and the people of Iraq from a mass-murdering, chemical weapon-possessing, rapist dictator. The irony is that most of these complaints come from the party that promotes the murder of children as a "privacy right." I realize that children have died in Iraq, but that does not compare to the atrocity of abortion for these reasons:
1) The only ones purposely targeting children (or civilians) are the terrorists;
2) We do not consider killing Iraqi children a "constitutional right";
3) Americans do not hold marches, rallies, or fund-raising dinners in support of killing Iraqi children;
4) The number of American babies killed by abortion far outweighs the total number of casualties in the war -- including children, adults, civilians, soldiers, and terrorists. In fact, that's exactly what my ticker sets out to proclaim:

The number: My figure is based on the number of abortions for the last two years available (2003 & 2004), as estimated by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood. From there I calculated the average number of abortions daily, and multiplied by the number of days since the U.S. invaded Iraq. The result is calculated daily and automatically updated.
Thank you: Thank you so much to Amanda for the new look for this ticker! You rock, hon!
I do not endorse the use of graphic abortion images in relation to the ticker. I have 7 little children running around my house, and I have no desire to expose them to graphic photos of the most horrific atrocity ever conceived by men. Do NOT send me any emails that contain links to photos of dead babies. I will NOT link to your site.
