Give me advice on taking "everyday" photos of a tiny baby

I promised all of you that I would get back to Project 365 after Diarmuid was born, but here he is two months old and I haven't. Not only that, but I have barely any photos of him (only 97 -- your definition of "barely any" may vary). And of course I've been putting off posting the photos I have taken recently.

Then I realized, hey, I have seven kids now! I have a child for every day of the week! (Kitschy, ain't it?) So I was thinking I'd re-start my Project 365 with a twist: I'll take a photo of a different child every day of the week. Anna will be Sunday's Child, Aoghdan Monday's Child, etc. That completely solves my problems regarding finding subjects, and I'll get lots of practice of taking pictures of my lovely kiddos.

But I have a question. Do any of you have advice for taking "everyday" photos of a tiny baby? I mean, I know lots of cute poses for studio portraits, but I don't have a studio and I wouldn't want to do that once a week anyway. It would get boring, and wouldn't show his real life. But I want photos of Diarmuid, of his face and his life, not just photos of grown-ups holding something swaddled in a blanket. And I want them to be cute. Ideas? Examples would be great!
