Wordless Wednesday: In Memory of Spot III

Spot III was the only pet our family really had for any amount of time. We got him as a puppy in early 2004, from the friend who owned his mother (Spot I). He was only two months younger than Hamish. He was a good dog, who loved to play rough with Seamus, sleep right up on top of me, and roam the house at night, checking on all the kids. He almost never ran away, and when he did accidentally get out of the yard he usually stood by the gate and barked to be let back in.

Wednesday morning Spot was killed by a pit bull after escaping our yard to rendezvous with a nearby female. The constables are still looking for this pit, who they feel poses a threat to pets and children in our area.

I really wish I had taken more photos of Spot. I was even thinking that earlier before I found out. He was such a good dog.
