10 Weird Things About Me

I'm so excited! Tricia at tagged me for a viral meme! I never get tagged! grin

10 Weird Things About Me

  1. First off, I'm a coder. As in, I write PHP code to create websites, scripts, and images that change by themselves. This was actually the first hobby I ever really got into, and I still enjoy it. This whole website was coded by me (except my gallery -- though my husband still wants me to go back to a gallery that I coded myself). I've also released some scripts for other people to use on their websites, like . How many conservative, Christian, homeschooling, moms-of-many do you know who code? Heck, how many girls do you know who code??

  2. I just celebrated my 8th blogiversary! I started blogging on March 7, 2000.

  3. I will be 27 when my 7th child is born. Now that seems to really freak people out.

  4. I have changed a lot since before my kids were born. I have become a lot more conservative, and I dress a lot more modestly. To give an example, in college I was on cast at the local Rocky Horror Picture Show, which meant that every Saturday night I was on stage in front of dozens of people in my underwear. Now I feel uncomfortable working in the front yard wearing bicycle shorts.

  5. I have a perception of myself as a "good girl" -- sweet and innocent. This makes my friends laugh. Out loud.

  6. I have a really messed up sense of time and space. I often feel that something "just" happened -- meaning within the last couple of minutes -- when it's been an hour. Don't ask me to estimate how long or wide something is, because I can't even begin to guess without a ruler. I also get lost really easily, and if I'm standing inside a restaurant there's little chance I can point out which direction the parking lot is.

  7. I am not a pack-rat at all. In fact, I love to get rid of stuff and I prefer to have few possessions. But I do have a collection of small memorabilia with which I refuse to part. It's just a small box of photos, cards, old keychains, tickets and brochures, things like that. I rarely add things to it anymore, though. Now I just take digital photos; I have close to 6,000.

  8. I suffer from a condition my psychiatrist calls "social phobia." (Also depression, but doesn't everyone these days?) I hate being in social situations without my "safe person" (my husband). Phone calls freak me out, and I never call anyone without a specific reason. (I am working on this -- trying to get closer to my friends.) This is probably why I like blogging so much, because I can take my time writing out my thoughts and edit where necessary. I never feel pressured to think of something to say -- and nobody ever looks me in the eye! Bliss!

  9. I was raised Catholic, but never really believed in God or knew much about the faith. I called myself agnostic during my "teenaged rebellion" years. After marrying a man from an "undenominational" church, I really learned about Christianity and began to follow Jesus for the first time. We're still "undenominational," but neither of us really thinks it's right that the church is divided. Some Christians follow Peter, others Paul, others Christ. Christ is not divided! (1 Corinthians 1:12-14)

  10. I am really into heritage. I'm very into the fact that both my ancestors and my husband's came from Ireland (well, not all, but a significant portion). I'm very proud to be an American, and I probably couldn't be prouder to be a Texan if I tried.

Wow, I actually managed 10 things! W00t! Ok, now I tag:
